SCTDA honours sponsors of Sharjah-Etisalat Water Festival 2008, media representatives

Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi: festival’s resounding success due to visionary directives of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah

Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) said that the resounding success Sharjah achieved in hosting the final round of the UIM Formula One Powerboat World Championship – Sharjah Grand Prix 2008 – and organizing the Sharjah-Etisalat Water Festival 2008 would not have been possible without the visionary directives of H.H Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the unlimited support of H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
These remarks were made during a speech given by Al Qassimi at a ceremony held by the SCTDA at Radisson Sas Sharjah to honor sponsors of Sharjah-Etisalat Water Festival, media representatives, and all who contributed to making the event a success. Al Qassimi also presented trophies and certificates of appreciation to those honoured.
“It is my great pleasure to be present here today to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the efforts you have all exerted and the support you have all offered to help make the Sharjah-Etisalat Water Festival 2008 a resounding success. It is my pleasure, too, to see the smiles of success and satisfaction on the faces of those hardworking individuals whose devoted efforts and diligence resulted in the excellent organization and hosting of the event,” said Al Qassimi
“I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this achievement to H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in recognition of the generous support he offered to the event, and of his visionary directives, to which we directly owe this latest success, which reflects Sharjah’s leading position and its ability to organize and host sporting and entertaining events of this calibre,” Al Qassimi continued.
“The Festival was both a popular and an organizational success, and we intend to build on these successes in the years to come so as to maintain this momentum and continue to promote the emirate of Sharjah,” he added.
The SCTDA Chairman emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between the SCTDA and Etisalat, saying that the partnership between the two organisations contributed directly to the Festival’s resounding success, as it embodied the fruitful cooperation between government and the private sector in the UAE, further enhancing the regional and international position of the country in terms of hosting and organizing world-class events.
Al Qassimi also extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the sponsors of Sharjah-Etisalat Water Festival for the unlimited support they offered and for their significant contribution to the success of the prestigious event, as well as to the local and international media for their thorough coverage of the event. He praised the role played by corporations and departments of the Sharjah Government for their outstanding efforts and commitment in providing all the technical and logistic requirements, and for their participation in a number of activities that significantly contributed to the success of the Festival.
Finally, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi praised the SCTDA work team for their devoted efforts to ensuring the ideal organization of this event, as well as to the volunteers who pitched in wherever necessary, and whose contribution was also very important.
Al Qassimi reiterated the SCTDA’s committment to continuing with its promotional campaigns for the emirate of Sharjah at the local, regional and international levels, through attracting premier economic and sporting activities to the emirate.
The ceremony was held by the SCTDA to honour Title Sponsor, Etisalat; main sponsors, Qanat Al Qasba Development Authority, SNASCO and Sharjah Museums Department; co-sponsors The Bukhatir Group, Dana Gas, ADNOC, ENSHAA and Crescent Petroleum; and partners Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Police General Directorate, Sharjah Sea Ports, Sharjah TV channel 2, Al Khaleej newspaper, Channel 4 radio network, Al Zahra Hospital, Zulal, Holiday Inn, Premier Hotel, Golden Tulip Hotel, and Millennium Hotel. Also honoured at the ceremony were local and GCC media representatives whose effective coverage contributed significantly to promoting the event, and volunteers from Sharjah Government departments.
