Sharjah Theatres Group

Sharjah Theatres Group was established in 2007 as a Department affiliated to the Office of H.H. the Ruler, Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasemi. Regarding that this Group assumes the responsibility of managing, sponsoring and developing the theatres in the Emirate of Sharjah, and working on sponsoring the theatric movement in the Emirate and its prosperity. Also, the Group contributes in developing the enlightenment toward theatre, and strengthening the artistic, cultural and social correlation among the dramatists in the Emirate and other theatres in the country.

Objectives

  • Sponsoring the theatre movement in the Emirate and working on its prosperity.
  • Contributing in developing the enlightenment toward the theatre in the community.
  • Developing the drama art creativity and appreciation.
  • Promoting the artistic, cultural and social correlation among the dramatists in the Emirate and other theatres in the country.
  • Boosting the relation between this Department and other theatric Associations in and outside the country.
  • Working on protecting the artistic, intellectual and financial rights of dramatists in the Emirate and to represent them before the concerned bodies.
  • Emphasizing the attention on playwriting, publication and supporting the researchers in the drama art fields.
  • Cooperating with the relevant official and private bodies for realizing the common objectives.

Group's duties

  • Upgrading the theatre level in the Emirate from the intellectual and artistic point of view, and creating enlightened theatre movement.
  • Organizing the specialized theatrical cycles, lectures and symposiums for spreading the theatre culture.
  • Preparing the development and marketing plans and everything related to the intellectual property, programming, production and maintenance, as well as the rehabilitation of the group of theatres within the scope of its specialty.
  • Developing and implementing the awareness boosting strategies concerning all aspects of arts, and preparing long term plans for theatrical marketing.
  • Preparing the necessary studies for upgrading and maintaining all theatres in the Emirate.
  • Bidding the opinion over the agreements related to theatre in which the Emirate is considered a party thereof.
  • Holding specialized training courses for rehabilitating and preparing the specialized national theatres’ personnel for assuming the administrative and technical duties.
  • Issuing scientific publications concerned with all theatre affairs, and innovating the creative ideas and modern methods for introducing such matters to the public.
