Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority
SCTDA was established in 1996, in accordance with the Emiri decree NO. 5 for the year 1996, with the objective of promoting commercial and tourism activities in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority endeavors to develop commercial and tourist sectors in the emirate, through various events, activities and issuances, although different in name, they promote the emirate at all local, regional and global levels: a goal for which the Authority was established body.
Accordingly, the Authority carries out all the work and activities that would achieve the goals by way of planning and drawing strategic plans to achieve development in all kinds and promote tourism industry in all its forms in addition to conducting related social and economic studies. The Authority also aims at marketing and promoting Sharjah to move the domestic capitals and attract foreign investments.
Moreover, the Authority conducts field studies, surveys, tourism and commerce polls and takes decisions that would boost development. It draws the policies for participating in the local, regional and international exhibitions and contacts the organizers and promoters in order to set up similar events.
For us, tourist promotion and marketing of tourism is to make use of all available means and different media in raising the public awareness locally, regionally and globally of the unique features of Sharjah as a special tourist destination at the local level. And the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority makes maximum use of all avenues, including media, to promote the emirate through participating in events that serve this purpose, conferences, exhibitions and sport and social events. On the external level, the Authority seeks to attract international and regional events and activities to promote the emirate and place it on top of the international map.
Sharjah has become a preferred destination for many tourists from around the world. Therefore, helping its position on the map of world tourism is the Authority’s top priority through organizing important events which capture the attention internationally, regionally and locally.
Under the constant guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi , Member of the Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah, the Authority believes that the development of the tourism sector is an organized collective action based on solid foundations and rules set by well-thought strategies drawn by the board of directors, chaired by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi , taking into account all the factors affecting this sector and the general trend of the local, regional and international tourism.
Finally, in its strategy to promote the emirate as a unique tourist destination, the Authority focuses on the factors of distinction and exclusiveness.
