Port Khalid

Port Khalid lies at the heart of Sharjah city, and is regarded as one of the most important multi-purpose ports in the region. The deep water port opened in 1975 and was the first in the UAE to offer modern container shore-side gantry cranes and Ro-Ro facilities, as well as a free trade terminal.

The port’s facilities today consist of 21 berths and one oil terminal, with a variety of shipping assets, ranging from general, reefer, dry, liquid and bulk cargo to container and oil and offshore support services. Storage space includes an open storage area of 220,200 square meters, public user cold storage with 5,000 tonne capacity and several warehouse facilities. The port also offers competitively priced road haulage with easy access to highways that link Port Khalid to the other emirates.

Since its inception, Port Khalid has developed substantially, constantly modernizing and upgrading services while keeping operations efficient and fast by mechanization of the Port & Customs Department's system.
