Archaeology

Since the early 1970’s, teams of archeologists from all over the world have exploredand excavated many areas of Sharjah emirate and have unearthed some exceptional sites and finds.
The discoveries have been such that in 1997, Sharjah’s Archeological Museum opened its doors to the public exhibiting a rare display of artifacts covering five eras of the emirate’s history.

The earliest settlements that were found in the UAE date back 7,000 years to when Sharjah was a mangrove swamp and the settlers were fishermen.
