Sharjah Museum for Contemporary Arab Art
Opened in April 1997 the largest art museum in the Gulf , covering 10,312 square metres, invites you to walk into a world of artistic excellence.
The museum features monthly international exhibitions, individual collections by local and visiting artists and the permanent display of the prize-winning works of art from the Sharjah International Arts Biennial.
Explore the history of the region through the Orientalist painters of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as gallery after gallery of stunning landscapes, cityscapes and portraits painted in oil, watercolours and acrylics, created by both local and internationally renowned artists. Cross the bridge inside the art museum and enter the Contemporary Arab Art section with three floors of galleries dedicated to modern creative expression and over 300 artworks designed by artists from the Arab world.
In addition to a large seminar and lecture hall and a smaller seminar corner, the international reference library offers over 4,000 titles in Arabic and English. Other facilities include a shop, cafe on the ground floor, basement parking (Dhs 2 per hour) with elevator access suitable for wheelchairs. Alternatively, public paid parking is available around the museum.
