Sharjah Tourist Guide Course - 2011

This certification in Tourist Guiding is for established guides and professionals who aspire to work as per their convenience and be a part of an ever growing tourism industry. It is particularly useful for all those who look forward to meeting people, socializing with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and want to be cultural ambassadors for Sharjah.

The Sharjah tourist guide course seeks to ensure quality standards among all external tourism stakeholders by providing participants with in-depth destination knowledge in several subjects (e.g. history, culture, architecture, archaeology and economy of Sharjah.

This course is accredited by the University of Sharjah.

Entry requirements

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Sharjah (advanced level)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of English language (all)
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in tourist guiding (advanced level)
  • Minimum age of 18 years

Duration

5 days (advanced level) / 8 days (beginners’ level)

The first 5 days of each course will be held jointly for advanced and beginners’ level.
(Approx. 8:00 hrs until 17:00 hrs)

Course Fee

Free for all UAE national
AED 2000/ - (advanced level); AED 2,750/ - (beginners’ level)

Registration and payment procedures

Applicants must submit the tourist guide application form along with the supporting documents (see below) and a onetime course fee payment.

  • Completed tourist guide application form
  • Full amount of the chosen course fee (AED 2,000 or AED 2,750 depending on the course level)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Reference letter from your current work place / company
  • Passport copy (showing residency stamp and ID page) or National ID card for UAE Nationals
  • Two passport-size photos
  • Photocopy of current tourist guide license/ certificate (optional)

Note: SCTDA reserves the right to request a police clearance certificate from the applicant at any time.
